Recent Technical Setup Adjustments result in a 50% Faster Website

The Need for Speed

No one likes to waste time on waiting for web pages to load. We go online because we want to grab information and move on. Therefore, we have taken a closer look at how we can improve the page load times of e-conomic's websites.

Since the launch of our new website Content Management System based on Lotus Domino back in October 2009, we have been improving on 20+ areas which affect the page load speed. The results have been rewarding.

With the recent technical adjustments, primarily the changes to our webserver load balancer, we have managed to reduce our average page load time to 0.3 seconds on www.e-conomic.com according to Google Webmaster Tools. The same tool says this puts www.e-conomic.com among the top 1% of all websites.

Other page speed test tools, e.g. Pingdom or Webslug confirm the fast results with numbers in the 0.2-0.4 second range.

So how Fast can we Go?

While we are quite happy with our recent website performance achievements, we strive to offer you even faster websites. Our next goal is to reach a page load time of 0.2 seconds as measured by Google Webmaster Tools.

Reaching this milestone will require improvements in many areas, such as further front-end optimization, fine-tuning the web servers and installing more powerful server hardware.
