Pernille Dupont about e-conomic

"I've been working with auditing and accounting for more than 20 years, and I've used many different financial management and accounting programs over the years. But the system that e-conomic created, and which is internet-based, is both the most ingenious, most user-friendly and the cheapest of them all. It's really fantastic."

This is the bald opinion of Pernille Dupont, owner of the accountancy firm Registreret revisor Dupont in Birkerød, which services around 150 customers ranging from local sports clubs, small and medium-sized companies to an international organization.

Some they help boh with bookeeping and financial reporting and others just with reporting. And it was some of the latter who told Pernille Dupont about e-conomic, she explains.

"I had a couple of customers who were handling their own accounts and who shifted to e-conomic. So I became aquainted with it when I was doing their financial statements. They were so thrilled about it that they started promoting it to me. When some of my accountant colleagues recommended it as well - well, then I decided to shift to e-conomic myself."

The right decision

In the middle of 2010, Pernille Dupont axed the old accounting software and started using e-conomic online. Since then, she's used it both for bookkeeping in her own firm and for all the customers she keeps accounts for - and it was the right decision, she says.

"First of all, e-conomic is so user-friendly that everybody can use it. And data is backed up automatically on an ongoing basis, so no data will get lost in case of mishaps. e-conomic handles the backups, so users don't need to worry about this. This is a great relief and an advantage e.g. in comparison to having your own accounting software, where you have to handle the daily backup yourself."

"Furthermore, customers avoid the cumbersome and costly updates to new versions as in the case of e.g. C5", Pernille Dupont adds: "This is by far the easiest and most user-friendly accounting software I've seen in my almost 25 years as an accountant. Everybody can use it - also people who've never been trained in bookkeeping, and you can get started within 10 minutes."

Another advantage, she adds, is that you can leave the entries in the day book and still see all entries as if they had been booked. When everything is in balance, e.g.the bank reconciliation, you register in the e-conomic system. This is far more clever than in traditional systems, where entries are registered immediately, which makes it difficult to correct errors. This means that in e-conomic the concept of post-entries is unknown, which is an advantage to customers who wish to do their own bookkeeping, but who may not have great experience with it.

Easy and fast conversion

The satisfaction with e-conomic is also attributable to the easiness of converting from the old accounting system C5 to e-conomic, Pernille Dupont adds: "e-conomic helped us a little with learning how to convert from C5 to e-conomic, and this enabled us to smoothly convert all our C5 customers ourselves, including historical data going up to five years back."

Yet another advantage, says Pernille Dupont, is that the e-conomic software is online, so you can use it whereever you have access to a pc and the Internet e.g. in the weekend cottage or at the customer's - and besides, it almost never goes down, she adds.

Pernille Dupont also mentions the simple, graphic tools that come with the system, and which not least her customers enjoy a lot. For example she experienced that some of them were directly inspired by the turnover graph to increase the efforts in making the graph continue its decline.

No complaints about the support

When asked about whether customers receive good support from e-conomic, when in need of help, Pernille Dupont is a bit unsure about her answer:

"Yes, support is included in the price, but we very rarely need it, because e-conomic is so easy to use. So I don't think I'm the best person to ask. But the few times we called the support, we always received excellent and fast help from competent people. So we've had nothing to complain about. Furthermore, e-conomic put a large number of small help videos online, which I know many of our customers' employees have benefited greatly from. So in regards to support, I actually believe it's of a high quality."

All in all Pernille Dupont is very pleased with her conversion to e-conomic; and she also believes that it's the right decision in the long run:

"I feel that e-conomic is a company with a great future ahead of it, because their system is online, and they're very attentative to the users' suggestions for development of their products - e.g. in relation to the add-on modules. So I have no doubts, that this is the right financial management and accounting program - for me and my customers alike."
