Deprecation (closing) of e-conomic SOAP API

The e-conomic SOAP API has been around for many years, and has been in a feature freeze state since 2018. And has only received minor security related updates.

With the maturity of our existing REST API and the launch of our new OpenAPI last year, we’ve set sail for the final journey of SOAP which will finally be deprecated in 2023.

It’s going to be a gradual process, and we’re starting now - with the initial deprecation (closing) of 263 out of the roughly 1600 SOAP methods in Q4 this year.
We will continuously update our SOAP deprecation status page with information on upcoming and past deprecations.

Over the course of 2023 we’ll be deprecating (closing) more methods, and we will announce the deprecations with a notice of 90 days.

We will do our best to ensure that this happens with as little disruption for our customers and that’s why we need your help.

The first batch of methods being deprecated (closed) are the ones we have identified as being used the least on SOAP, and which have alternatives available on our other API’s. We will also deprecate a few endpoints that no longer have any practical use.

On these pages, we will continuously update the list on methods to be deprecated. Please make sure that you have already switched to one of our other API’s before the first batch of SOAP methods are deprecated on the 22nd of december.

We’re doing this first batch in order to assess the impact, and to test our tooling and capacity, preparing for the full deprecation (closing) of entire business areas during next year - starting with all projects related methods in Q1 2023.

Functionality related to the Projects module is already fully supported on our newest OpenAPI.
